As an education leader, I am motivated by the fulfillment to lead and guide others in achieving and implementing their educational programs and goals. As a lifelong learner, my teaching and inspiration to others are driven by what I have personally experienced. By being able to share those experiences with students and staff, it makes for an authentic learning experience. I believe that students should be comfortable and placed in learning environments that will allow them the opportunity to maximize their potential by engaging in meaningful and purposeful learning with other students. From my administrative view, I understand the challenge that faculty and staff face when tasked with the duty of implementing rigorous programs at their learning institution. When students are active learners, given the opportunity to collaborate, reflect, and share in an organized and structured environment, it is then that their learning becomes meaningful with purpose and understanding.

Technology has increased our access to information with an abundance of online resources that are readily available at our fingertips. Students should not be limited to what they merely find and read in a textbook or online but should be intentional experiential learners that think, discover, and innovate. Active learning environments spark the attention and interest of students as they become engaged in the topics that are being taught. Students should be able to grow with the knowledge that they have obtained and apply it to current and relevant situations with new insight into real-world problems while providing thought-provoking and innovative solutions.
